OK. First of all, I should distinguish what like means because if you want to make some extra money, than Myspace can be an excellent way to generate a nice passive income stream but you have to really know what you’re doing otherwise you could possibly get banned, or you may just not make any money.

That’s why I was particularly excited after I put down reading Space Bankers which is very worthwhile reading if you’re considering making money on Myspace. I’ll be posting my results on Myspace later this year.

Apart from this though, I’m not a big fan of Myspace. Too many scammers and spammers. Too many young, overly-sexed teenagers and overall, just not my crowd. This brings me to the point that if you are interested in making money on Myspace, you have to really cater to this market which is still predominantly young. Usually, target markets like this go better with simple money making things like completing surveys. Other things that would probably go well on this site when marketing, are things related to gaming, and of course, music and movies.

I’d love to hear your experiences, but for now, I for one, will not be spending too much time on Myspace, particularly when there are some awesome online communities that are more mature and better markets for the type of products and recommendations I am usually invovled with.

Of course in closing, if I totally neglected Myspace, the 8th biggest population in the world, I’d be crazy. Just keep in mind that it’s a younger audience you’re marketing to and certain products/services will go significantly better than others, even if they are already proven winners elsewhere. What happens when you combine the popularity of SMS (or texting) with the ease and simplicity of the Internet? Twitter of course. Twitter is an extremely powerful site that has a vibrant community and some great features which allow you to “twitter” about anything. Each time you twitter, you get listed on the home page and like many other communities, you can establish networks with others that you are interested in following or for others which may be interested in following your movements.

I’m pretty sure you can this for anything in life, and Internet Marketing is no different. There is such a huge and imense amout of information, that parallels to The Hitch Hikers Guide seems almost mandatory… but I’ll refrain for now.

I’m certainly guilty of it and all I can share is that it’s not a good strategy to actually accomplishing (read finishing) things. Because at the end of the day, the results for all your efforts are severly deminished or non-existent in cases if you have not completed a website for example. Nothing happens (read making money) until you’ve not only completed your website, but implemented strategies, on a consistent basis to generate a traffic supply to your site to sufficiently monetize your online entities.

The Internet is littered with broken dreams and uncompleted projects, leaving behind it an endless tail of wasted and spent energy. It’s sad really, but of course, there is no guarantee of success. If you are in the position of pursuing your internet dream, remember what Winston Churchill once said at a pivotal point in history, and it’s still just as relevant… Never, never, never, never give up.

I cam across this interesting little community recently called Twitter

Now, the interesting thing about Twitter is it’s kind of like a community and kind of like SMS-ing.

Apart from the social aspect, it’s super easy to implement and you can place a Twitter box on your blog/myspace or whatever to keep people up to date on what you’re doing which can be nice cause lets face it, blogging can be time consumig so a few words to keep friends or contacts current on Twitter can be a lot easier.

I’ll keep experimenting with it and give everyone some feedback in a couple of weeks or so.

The really nice thing about Twitter from an SEO viewpoint is that you’ve got your own profile (mine is mconstantinos) which is where you can insert your domain name. I’ve chosen to include my personal blog (this one) and it will benefit me 2 ways… (1) Twitter is a Page Rank 8 which is huge and this will get more spiders/bots to my chosen domain, and (2) Generate some human traffic to see what I’m up to. Noth these points are important. You see, people are vouristic in nature and want to follow what other people are doing (a simple explanation for the popularity of reality TV) and this is all good as you’re making new friends and generating a loyal following of people which think you’re ok.

This is an important question to ask when choosing your affiliate program to work with. What’s better - Clickbank or PayDotCom? Sure, everyone (virtually) uses Clickbank but is it really a good busines choice for affiliates? Let me qualify this a little further - When it comes to Internet Marketing products; what’s the better network to use?

I’ve been marketing for a while now and here’s my analysis of this topic. If you’re promoting some ebook that is not related to internet marketing - say, a book on “How to make the most beautiful girl in the room blush”, then either network is a solid platform and I guess it depends on the quality of the book itself as well as the sales letter (home page) of course which is the really important element and dictates the conversion rate more than any other aspect of the business/product. The other nice thing about PayDotCom from a cashflow perspective is that you get your money within days of the sale being made. Technically, you can receive cash right into your PayPal account within 24 hours of the sale. You see, affiliates get paid the month following the month of the sale. It does vary as you get paid directly from the website owner which they do through the PayDotCom system but if you’re promoting a website owner that’s quick with their payments, you can literally be paid on the 1st of the following month that the sale was made… and this just happened to me today. I woke up and there was almost $1,500 in my account for all my sales for the previous month from this particular partner.

The other nice thing about PayDotCom is they don’t offer 56 days (8 weeks) money back guarantee like Clickbank does which is really annoying since you don’t end up getting your money for about 10 weeks after the sale is made. The next time you get some Guru telling you that you get paid like clockwork every 2 weeks, what they are not telling you is that the “every 2 weeks like clockwork” reference is after the 8 weeks of limbo. The other thing that pisses me off about Clickbank is that they send me a check in US dollars. 2 problems here; (1) I live in Australia and mail takes a while to get here downunder (about 1-2 weeks), and (2) Because I live in Australia, guess what currency we Aussies use down here?? Yep, you got it, Australian currency… which means I’ve got to get it converted. Now that may seem simple enough but because it’s an American Bank cheque, the cheque (get this) has to be mailed back to the USA by my bank to verify it and resent back to Australia a 2nd time. Sounds pathetically ridiculous but true. This farce ads another 4-8 weeks to the 10 weeks it took me to get paid which means that ultimately, a sale on Clickbank takes about 18 weeks (that’s almost 5 months folks) to get the cash into my pocket. So, in summary, cash materialises from 10-20 weeks. Way, way, way toooo long.

Now here’s the big clincher about Clickbank which can mean the Kiss of Death for affiliates. Now don’t tell anyone this cause it’s a big secret….. If you’re promoting an Internet Marketing product which is not for newbie newbies, read this twice (or trice) Do NOT use Clickbank. You see, if it’s a book on chasing chicks or whatever - fine… as long as you can handle the cashflow deficit by not getting cash from your sales for 10-20 weeks. BUT, if it’s for an internet marketing product, all you will be doing as a poor, newbie marketer is wasting your money and time telling other internet marketers about this cool product you’re promoting and…. they’ll use their own hop link if they like it (after finding it through your Google ad and costing you your money) and cheat you from your commission. Come on - seriously - do you really think that the visitor is not going to use their own Clickbank link and get an immediate 50% (give or take) discount off their purchase. Of course not. Hey, I’ve done it myself.

So in conclusion, only use Clickbank for non-internet marketing products (unless the product is targeting green newbies that know extremely little) AND you don’t mind that the money comes in up to 20 weeks later after the sale… if it comes in at all - you see I forgot to mention - You WILL get people (including professional refunders) purchasing the product and claiming a refund after they’ve received the download. This is a fairly regular occurance and can sometimes happen just minutes or hours after the purchase. In fact, for 8 weeks during Clickbanks refund policy timeframe, you’re sales may get refunded anytime.
